Thomas Rucker serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Property Management at Berkshire. In his position, Thomas is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations for the property management platform. His responsibilities span National Real Estate Services, Property systems and technology, marketing and resident experience, construction services, training and education, as well as national purchasing, procurement, and contract management across the portfolio. In addition, Thomas leads Berkshire’s ESG and sustainability strategy through the firm’s BerkshireTHRIVE initiative.
Prior to joining Berkshire, Thomas served as Vice President and Managing Director of Real Estate for Sawyer Realty Holdings, LLC. During his tenure at Sawyer Realty Holdings, LLC, Thomas managed more than 30,000 units.
Thomas received a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM®) designation from the National Apartment Association and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) through the Institute of Real Estate Management. He is also a licensed Property Manager with the District of Columbia Real Estate Commission and is a Past President and active member of the Property Management Association (PMA) of Washington, D.C. In addition, Thomas remains engaged with several industry organizations, including the National Apartment Association (NAA), National Multi Housing Council (NMHC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA), and the local Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) chapter.
