Carolyn Burgess is a Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer at Berkshire. In this role she supports the efforts of the Bridge Loan and Debt funds, as well as focusing on the expansion of investment strategies and debt products specifically related to direct debt, indirect debt, equity and development focusing on all forms of U.S. rental housing.
Prior to joining Berkshire, Carolyn served as Vice President, Multifamily Chief Risk Officer at Fannie Mae where she led a team responsible for oversight of the Multifamily Mortgage Business. Carolyn has more than twenty years of experience in the commercial mortgage industry, including previous employment at Berkshire Mortgage Finance, a prior affiliate of the company, before joining Fannie Mae. Carolyn has also completed executive leadership and corporate risk programs at MIT, HBS and UCLA.
Carolyn earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from the University of Virginia.
